Friday, December 7, 2018

Make-A-Wish International® announced today that the Board of Directors has selected Michel Rudolphie as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective December 1, 2018.

Rudolphie  was selected by the search committee appointed by the Make-A-Wish International Board, after a lengthy, global search which produced several, high caliber candidates. Ultimately, the Board chose Rudolphie for his extensive international management experience in both “non-profit” and “for-profit” organizations, impressive personal qualifications and as importantly, his demonstrated passion and commitment to the vision and mission of Make-A-Wish International.

Michel is a Dutch citizen with a MSc and MBA in Health Care Management & Policy from Erasmus University Rotterdam. He has an impressive career record in the healthcare industry, with a succession of leadership positions at Novartis for 14 years, including four years as CEO Norway. Also, he was active as CEO with NESS for four years, and served as VP Europe for Nucletron, a global medical devices company specializing in innovative products used for cancer treatment. From 2011 until 2017, Michel served as the CEO and President of the Dutch Cancer Society, the largest health charity in the Netherlands.

Michel’s unique balance of international management experience in the healthcare industry, combined with six years as the head of the Dutch Cancer Society, make him uniquely qualified to lead Make-A-Wish International to the next phase of its evolution as it seeks to become the “World’s Benchmark Children’s Charity” by granting the wish of every eligible child with a critical illness.

Rudolphie succeeds Jon Stettner as President and CEO of Make-A-Wish International. Stettner retired from the organization on 30 November, 2018, after a successful 11-year career helping to drive the organization’s overall strategy and vision, and a tenure marked by unprecedented global collaboration and growth.

Together, generous donors, supporters, staff and more than 40,000 volunteers grant a wish every 17 minutes, on average, somewhere in the world.
