‘Hope springs eternal in the human breast’. These philosophical lines by Alexander Pope are truly enchanting and appealing. It is the elevating factor of hope that injects new life and new blood in human. And, it was this element of hope which actually paved the path for the fulfillment of Nabeel’s most cherished wish.Nabeel Zia Khan, 17 years, is suffering from Muscular Dystrophy. Nabeel beleive that the Chief Justice of Pakistan can change the destiny of the nation and aspired to meet him. A unique wish indeed!
The Chief Justice of Pakistan is one of the busiest man in the country but despite of his busy schedule he accommodated Nabeel's wish. Unfortunately it was not possible for Nabeel to travel to Islamabad to meet the Chief Jutice due to medical reasons . But, as they say that destiny has a unique way of exerting itself, the Chief Justice arrived in Karachi a few days later, with Nabeel’s wish on his priority list.
Make-A-Wish Foundation Pakistan finally granted Nabeel’s wish on 11th March, 2010, when he accompanied, with his mother, brother and Make-A-Wish team members led by Mr. Ishtiaq Baig, Founding President and members of MAW Board, Former Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice (R) Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqui and Mr S.M Munir headed towards the Supreme Court Registry.
Nabeel’s ecstasy knew no bounds that day and he was simply elated. It was indeed very thoughtful of the Chief Justice to have given his precious time to our dear wish child, whose joys and smile on his face made us believe that the fulfillment of his wish was even more fascinating than the desire itself! Nabeel brought a gift for the Chief Justice and the gesture was reciprocated by the Chief Justice.
Nabeel experience of a lifetime would definitely be a sweet memory to cherish forever!
