Faiza is a 9 year old girl heart patient suffering from a pericardial effusion; it is the presence of an abnormal amount and or character of fluid in the pericardial space. She is being treated at National Institute of Cardio Vascular Disease
(NICVD) Hospital. When our volunteer visited her she was very happy to interact with them and informed them that her favorite TV show is SON PARI. In that TV programme there is one Fairy who used to help children and solve their problems. She further informed them that she was fascinated with that Fairy and wish to be a Fairy one day. Her cherished wish to be a Fairy came true on 21st of April 2010.Make A Wish Foundation Pakistan dressed Faiza in adorable fairy costume, a white long organza dress, with set of fairy wings, wand and crown. Then the fairy of the day waved her magic wand and wished for a doll and was instantly presented a Barbie doll. Although Faiza was running fever during the wish granting day but she endured all the pain and was overjoyed to see her transformation into a Fairy.
Minister for Social Welfare Mrs Nargis N D Khan crowned Faiza “The Fairy” while Miss Naseem Hamid, national athlete gold medalist, attached the wings to her costume. Ms Suzanne Matsumori, Director Affiliate Make A Wish Int’l who was on visit to Pakistan witnessed the wish granting event.
