Make-A-Wish Foundation Pakistan celebrated World Wish Day

Make-A-Wish Foundation Pakistan celebrated World Wish Day by organizing World Wish Day  Walk on 29th April 2010. More than 300 students of the Ida Rieu School of Blind Deaf & Dumb took part in the Walk. The Walk were led by Mr Ishtiaq Baig, Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Federal Advisor on Textiles, Ms Sharmila Farooqui, Adviser to Chief Minister, Sindh,  Miss Naseem Hamid, national athlete gold medallist 2010, Mr Jimmy Engineer, renowned social worker, Mr Saleem Yousuf, former test cricketer, and Vice Admiral (R) Khalid M Mir, President, Ida Rieu Welfare Association along with Make A Wish Staff and Volunteers.  The Walk ended at the Father of  Nation Mausoleum.

All participants were wearing MAW-Pakistan Caps and carrying  banner  “World Wish Day Walk”  . It was overall a successful event which was covered by press and electronic media. At the end of the walk I briefed all the participants and the media about the importance of the global celebration of World Wish Day to make a real difference to the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions around the world.

Make-A-Wish Foundation Pakistan granted the wishes of two children to meet the Prime Minister of Pakistan

The Prime Minister of Pakistan must be the busiest man in the country. altMost people in our country never seen him making speech in person, let alone shake his hand.
Our wish children Gul Bano and Deedar must be very special then as the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Yousuf Raza Gillani, Governor Ishrat ul Ebad Khan and Chief Minister Sindh received them personally at the Governor’s House, shaked their hands, hugged and spent some time with them which was arranged by Make-A-Wish Foundation Pakistan.

The Prime Minister was very thoughtful and gifted Gul Bano a huge teddy bear almost her size and a big remote control car to Deedar Ali. 
The Prime Minister was also generous and donated an amount of Rs. 300,000 each to Gul Bano and Deedar Ali. Both children were treated like a VIP guests and the uniformed waiters of Governors House serving delicious delicacies to Gul Bano and Deedar at a sumptuous tea party arranged for this meeting.
Gul Bano and Deedar were very happy and said that the meeting made them very proud and feel that they were special as they have never thought that their cherished wishes  will one  day come true.

Make A Wish Foundation Pakistan has conducted a full day Workshop for the 2nd batch of new volunteers on 24th Jan. 2010 at MAW-Pakistan Clifton Office, Karachi.
40 new volunteers participated in the Workshop which was conducted   based on the criteria prescribed by Make A Wish Foundation Int’l.
